BPC-157 is a fifteen-amino-acid peptide derived from a protein in gastric juice. It has three decades of rodent research on tendon, ligament, muscle and gut healing, and a 2022 pharmacokinetic study in beagles. It is the most-used peptide in dogs by a wide margin.

Owners reach for it when a dog is slowing down with age, recovering from soft-tissue injury or orthopedic surgery, or struggling with a stubborn gut. In Canitide it is paired with TB-500 in REPAIR, and taken by mouth in its arginate salt in GUT.

## BPC-157 dose by weight band (Canitide REPAIR, 5 days on / 2 days off · 8-week cycle, then 4 weeks off)

| Weight band | Per dose | Per dose (mcg) | Per week | Cartridge lasts | Club cadence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small (under 20 lb) | 6 units | 198 mcg | 30 units | ~10 weeks | every 8 weeks |
| Medium (20–50 lb) | 9 units | 297 mcg | 45 units | ~6 weeks | every 6 weeks |
| Large (50–90 lb) | 12 units | 396 mcg | 60 units | ~5 weeks | every 4 weeks |
| Giant (90 lb and up) | 15 units | 495 mcg | 75 units | ~4 weeks | every 4 weeks |

## If you use a vial

A 10 mg vial of BPC-157 reconstituted in 3 mL of bacteriostatic water is 3.33 mg/mL, the same concentration as a REPAIR cartridge, so the unit numbers below read the same on a U-100 insulin syringe. On a U-100 insulin syringe one unit is also 0.01 mL.

## Questions

### How much BPC-157 do I give a dog?

Canitide doses REPAIR by weight band: 6 units a dose under 20 lb, 9 units at 20–50 lb, 12 units at 50–90 lb and 15 units at 90 lb and up, five days a week for eight weeks. One unit is 0.01 mL and carries about 33 mcg of BPC-157, so a medium dog gets about 300 mcg a dose. The bands are set from the mg/kg ranges in the animal research; bring the card to your vet.

### Is oral BPC-157 for dogs any good?

BPC-157 was first studied for gastric and intestinal protection, which is why an oral form is credible for gut use. Canitide GUT uses the stable arginate salt in a delayed-release capsule, opened over food or given whole. For joints and tendons, owners use the injectable form.

### Where do I inject BPC-157 in a dog?

Under loose skin at the scruff or flank, the way insulin is given. With the Canitide Pen you twist on a 32G × 4 mm needle, dial the units and press for five seconds. Most dogs react less than they do to a vaccine.

### Is BPC-157 safe for dogs?

No controlled canine trial has been completed, so nobody can honestly say "safe". In the animal research the most common findings are mild and local: a small bump at the injection site and a day or two of lethargy. Talk to your vet before starting, especially for dogs on NSAIDs, steroids or insulin, and never for dogs with cancer without an oncologist’s sign-off.
