Epitalon (epithalon) is a four-amino-acid peptide studied for telomerase activity and lifespan in rodent models.

A short cycle, twice a year, for senior dogs: Canitide LONG is 10 mg of epitalon in a cartridge, given daily for ten days, repeated every six months.

## If you use a vial

A 10 mg vial of epitalon in 3 mL of bacteriostatic water is 3.33 mg/mL, the same concentration as a LONG cartridge. On a U-100 insulin syringe one unit is also 0.01 mL.

## Questions

### What is the epitalon dose for dogs?

LONG doses 15, 20, 25 or 30 units a day for ten days by weight band, then nothing for six months. One unit carries about 33 mcg.

### Why only ten days?

The protocol follows the short-course dosing in the rodent lifespan research. A cartridge covers one ten-day cycle.

### Can a young dog take it?

LONG is for senior dogs. Canitide products are not for dogs under one year.

### What does the research say?

Studies in human fibroblasts (2004) on overcoming the division limit, and in female mice (2003) on biomarkers of aging, lifespan and spontaneous tumor incidence. There is no canine trial.
