Peptides for a dog’s gut
Chronic loose stool, a sensitive stomach, a dog that goes off food: the gut is where oral peptides make sense, and where no needle is needed.
First, your vet
A fecal test and a diet trial with your vet. Parasites, food sensitivity and pancreatitis are the usual suspects and each has a specific fix.
What owners use
GUT: oral BPC-157 arginate with KPV in a delayed-release capsule, one a day for small dogs and two for everyone else, opened over food or given whole.
Canitide products are sold for research purposes and are not FDA-approved drugs. Talk to your veterinarian before starting any protocol, and bring the dosing card.
What the research is
BPC-157 was originally investigated for gastric and intestinal protection; a 2018 review covers the brain-gut axis work. KPV has a 2008 mouse colitis study on PepT1 uptake. No canine trial.
