GHK-Cu for dogs: dosage chart by weight

GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide studied for collagen production, skin remodeling and wound support. It is one of the few peptides with genuine canine research: open-wound healing work in dogs in the 1990s.

GHK-Cu dose by weight band.

One pen unit is 0.01 mL and carries about 167 mcg of GHK-Cu. The bands are set from the mg/kg ranges in the animal research, rounded to whole units.

Owners use it for dull coats, senior skin and dogs prone to hot spots. Canitide COAT is 50 mg of GHK-Cu in one pre-mixed cartridge, dosed daily for eight weeks.

If you use a vial

A 50 mg vial of GHK-Cu in 3 mL of bacteriostatic water is 16.7 mg/mL, the same concentration as a COAT cartridge. On a U-100 insulin syringe one unit is also 0.01 mL, so the chart above reads the same. What changes with the pen: no reconstitution, no drawing up, a sterility-tested cartridge, a 32G × 4 mm needle, and a dial you cannot misread. The pen versus vial kits.

Questions about GHK-Cu for dogs

What is the GHK-Cu dose for dogs?

COAT doses 4, 6, 8 or 10 units a day by weight band (under 20 lb, 20–50 lb, 50–90 lb, 90 lb and up). One unit of COAT carries about 167 mcg of GHK-Cu.

Is GHK-Cu safe for dogs?

GHK-Cu has canine wound-healing research and a long record of topical use in people, but no controlled canine trial of injectable use. The usual cautions apply: talk to your vet, watch the injection site, stop if anything worries you.

Can I use GHK-Cu on the skin instead?

A topical COAT Serum is on the Canitide roadmap for summer 2027. Today COAT is a cartridge for the pen.

How long until the coat changes?

Owners typically report changes over the eight-week cycle, not in the first days. Track it with photos in Fieldnotes so you and your vet can see it rather than remember it.
